Under the artistic direction of Ms. Farrah Cortez, Alma Dance Academy of New Jersey, was established to create a positive dance studio and dance competition outlet for aspiring dancers. 

Easy to understand policies ,  on-line  registrations,  offering  recreational & competition dance  classes and

 family friendly tuition is what makes ADA an organization you want to be a part of. 

We are expanding our organization, thus allowing more class and performance groups  to form. This year, we are excited to add 6 new teams in Flamenco, Jazz and Contemporary dance genres. Our plans are to allow more students to participate in multiple dance disciplines to create a more well rounded dancers.

Farrah Cortez

Artistic Director 

Farrah Cortez created and founded Alma Dance Academy of New Jersey out of a need for a positive dance studio experience and a positive take on dance competitions. She began dancing at the age of 3 and has ever stopped. She has been in multiple dance companies in NYC and Chicago. Teachers include Diane Lawrenson (Fosse protege), Jacob Brent (master jazz dance educator), Dana Moore (Fosse) and Raymond Lunkens (Ballet), and John Byrne (renown choreographer)  to name a few.  

Ms. Cortez has received the DEA Teacher certification in 2002 and a Bachelors Degree in Business Marketing from LIM College NYC. 

As an Emmy award winning commercial actress, SAG/Aftra member,  she has experience on screen, as well as off, and understands the process that each student must face as they enter a professional world in entertainment. 

As a former adjudicator for the  Papermill Playhouse Rising Star Awards for the Best High School musical theater programs in the state of New Jersey, her love of the dance and stage have led her to creating costumes by hand and concept design.

Her dance education background has her successfully training dancers in Flamenco, Jazz, Ballet , Tap and Contemporary.

A NYC native, she also works as a professional plus size model with several top talent and modeling agencies for Ralph Lauren, Redcats, One Stop Plus, Lindsay Adler, Make Up Forever and JM Designs.  She can be seen in Redbook, Cosmopolitan.com, refinery29, Dr.Oz, Orange is the New Black, Brain Games and a book cover model for Lindsay Adler. 

She can now be seen in the new Clairol and Lean Cuisine national commercials.

Farrah has extensive experience and wishes to pass her love for the art to future generations.
